October 2: 26 cents found. We found a penny in the parking lot outside the Trek Bike store in Simi Valley. Ajay and I needed some color ink for a school project so we headed to Staples. On the way out of the store, I noticed a quarter laying near the entrance just inside the store... picked it up with nary a trace of effort.

Bottles and Cans Fund over $1,000 Mark!
Today, October 2, 2007, the Bottles & Cans Fund passed the $1,000 mark within its second year that will end of October 5, 2007. This afternoon, Ajay and I returned $8.00 worth of recycling. This brings our new B&C Fund total to $1,007.18!
The goal of recycling $500 of bottles and cans per year is intact! Kids, you did it!
Congratulations to Maya and Ajay for their strident efforts and hard work in accomplishing their financial goal. You can be proud of yourselves for a long time to come.

October 1: Found three pennies while taking an afternoon break with the kids at Del Taco on Cochran Ave. I counted the cans and bottles from the tennis match -- 29. Aunt Anju's donated 23! Also, Ron Roth donated 5 of his water bottles down at the Rancho Simi Tennis Courts this morning. Thanks to all our helpers.

FMJ - Day 550
September 30: 33 cents found. Last night, Ajay was bitten across his face by a neighbor's dog... so, a hospital trip was made... luckily it was just a slight puncture to his cheek -- no stitches required - hopefully no scar. Anyway, he's been put on Augmenten , an very expensive antibiotic, for the next 7 days. He was a little shaken by the dog attack and we decided to spend the night at his Mayma's house in Cerritos, CA.
While shopping Pioneer Blvd. in Cerritos, Ajay and I found a dime and two pennies. At Burger King, we found a penny. A stop at 7-11 for soda, I found a dime. While getting gas at the Exxon on Norwalk Blvd., I scooped our final find of a dime near my pump.
We also collected a donation of bottles and cans from Aunt Anju. I'll add them when I count them.

September 29: No Finds. I played in the tough match against the #1 doubles team from the Ojai Tennis Club and lost 6-0, 7-5. The kids did collect a bag full of bottles from the after party at the courts.

Dividends!
On September 17, Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust paid out a regular quarterly dividend of $8.66 on the 15.191 shares held by the FMJ fund. The dividend was reinvested for .234 fractional shares. Our total holdings have increased to 15.425 shares.

Closing in on $1,000 for the B&C Fund!
September 26: At the Wood Ranch recycling center, I stopped to turn in a box full of bottles and cans and received $4.85 for them. We are now less than $1.00 away from our goal of attaining $1,000 in two years from recycling bottles and cans. October 5, 2007 will mark our two year anniversary for the B&C Fund.

FMJ - Day 543
September 23: After our Moorpark Men's Doubles Team tennis match this morning in which Glenn and I defeated Gerry and Jay - the #1 double teams on Larry Gee's incredibly good Simi Valley team -- 6-7 (2-7), 6-4, 7-5, the kids and I went to Northridge Mall on Tampa Blvd. in the San Fernando Valley. In the food court, we found a quarter, 2 dimes and 2 pennies.
